| Member Spotlight This month's Member Spotlight features carlynishere! Here's what Carly had to say about AFC, couponing, and finding deals: 1. How long have you been a member of AFC? Since February 2009, so one year now. 2. How many family members do you shop for? There are four of us - me, SO, 20yo Step-DD and 10yo DS. Plus 2 dogs and 3 cats! 3. When did you begin using coupons and why? I started using coupons about 5 years ago. I was recently divorced and trying to make it "on my own" and saw it as a way to save a little 'here and there'. I started searching for online coupons and came across AFC a little over a year ago. I read a bunch and followed the threads on good deals until I got the hang of it...then I joined and started posting a little at a time. Since we have 2 Food Lions around this area, I started posting more regularly in the FL Forum and was eventually asked to head up the Food Lion Internet Printable’s (FLIP's) on a weekly basis. I have been doing that for about 3 months now and loving it. 4. How has AFC changed your shopping habits? AFC has taught me about the sales cycle and how everything WILL be on sale again before too long. AFC has taught me to stock up on those items that are at a really good price so I don't run out and have to buy again when it is not on sale and I do not have a coupon for it. I haven't bought laundry detergent, dish soap, canned and frozen veggies, and a few other items in months. I am now able to buy in bulk with sales and Q's and can wait until the sales cycle around again to buy again. 5. What is your favorite feature of AFC? Hmmm...that is a hard one... I would have to say the Coupon Database is a fave of mine, because it helps me to know what coupons I have at home. I am not the greatest at organizing my coupons (I have tried so many different ways too), so I just file my Q inserts by date and can easily look in the Database to see which insert a particular coupon is in. This has saved me SO much time searching for coupons. I also love the Shopping List feature that other members work hard to create each week. The match-ups are a big help in determining if something is a good price or not. 6. Can you share one tip for members new to AFC? The most important thing to remember is that everyone on AFC is looking to save money just like you. Do not hesitate to post a question – we were all new at one time and had the same questions as you. 7. What was your favorite all time coupon or sale? Back before I joined AFC there was a coupon out for the Schick Intuition Razor (the one with the soap around the blade), and I was just starting to order coupons on eBay. I must've ordered 50 or more, because after coupon, CVS was paying me to take them home. I finally got so tired of using those razors that I gave them all away to family and friends. LOL 8. If you were trying to get someone to join AFC, what would be the most important thing about the site that you would tell them about? The best feature of AFC is the friendly and helpful members here. Don't even hesitate to post a question, good deal, or whatever else you may find. Someone else may have the same question and are afraid to post – don’t be afraid to post anything. Someone knows the answer – I promise!
