| Tips for Members E-Coupons and How to Make the Most of Them~ (Thanks to philomena83 for contributing this tip!) Most AFC’ers are already familiar with electronic coupons, but for those of you that aren’t, hopefully this will give you some helpful tips on how to maximize your savings at the grocery store. E-coupons are coupons that are electronically deducted from your bill when you shop at certain stores. By going to websites that offer these coupons, you load them on to your loyalty card (the one you already use for sale prices and promotions) and the savings are automatically deducted at the register when you buy the item. You’ll see the savings underneath the purchased item on your receipt. Most major grocery stores already participate in these types of programs, so you should have several stores in which to take advantage of these types of coupons. Here are some websites to start you off: Coupons, Free Coupons, Grocery Coupons, Online Coupons | Shortcuts.com Grocery Coupons (cellfire will require your cell phone number to register, but you can opt out of receiving texts) www.pgesaver.com When you log onto these sites, you’ll set up an account, add your loyalty shopper card numbers, and voila! It’s that simple. It usually takes about an hour for the coupons to appear on your card, so wait a bit before you run out to the store. Cellfire coupons are renewed every two weeks, shortcuts every month, and P&G quarterly. Now here’s the fun part! You can stack e-coupons with paper coupons, and with other e-coupons! For instance, if the same coupon is available on the cellfire and shortcut websites, both coupons will be deducted when you buy the item. So if you are buying a box of Bisquick, and you have a $.50 coupon from both cellfire and shortcuts, you’ll get a total of $1.00 off. Also, if you have a paper coupon for the same item, you can use that as well! So for that box of Bisquick that you’ve already saved $1.00 on, use your paper coupon (say $.50) for a total of $1.50 off the purchase price! For the savvy shopper who only buys when items are on sale, this is a wonderful way to maximize your savings and fill that cup! One note: your e-coupon can only be used once, so you can’t buy 5 boxes of the Bisquick and have the savings deducted five times. Also, it's a good idea to scan your loyalty card before any items are scanned. Some members have reported that this ensures that all your e-coupons will be deducted. When you add coupons to your loyalty card, it’s always a good idea to print out which coupons you’ve added so that when making your shopping list you have an easy reference. Take your printout with you to the store so that if for some reason a coupon isn’t deducted at the register you can take it with you to customer service. | Member Spotlight This month's member spotlight features DarlingNikki. Nikki lives in Nevada, and she has been a member of AFC since May 2010. Nikki was inspired to start couponing at a very young age. As the youngest girl in a family of six, she loved the craziness of double and triple coupon days at the local grocery store, and she admired the extreme couponing and stockpiling skills of her mother.
