Community News Hi AFC community! Welcome to fall! We're quickly moving into the holiday season, so there's lots of good deals and great coupons coming up! We hope you'll take a few minutes to check out what's happening at AFC this month. See you on the boards! What's on Sale this Month? By: sar1 Fall is officially here, so it’s time to dust off that stand mixer and start whipping up some fall goodies for school bake sales and Halloween parties. Comfort foods and baking supplies will be on sale, and there should be lots of great coupons to match. We typically see Nestle morsels, Carnation evaporated milk, ready-to-bake cookies, pie filling, instant potatoes, and so many different brands of soups, broth, and stock. Fall harvest vegetables will highlight the produce sales, so look for discounts on fresh squash, apples, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and brussel sprouts. It’s not too late to get your Halloween candy – just remember to save some for the trick-or-treaters! And right after the big night head out to the stores to save big on the candy clearance.

Tips for Members Stockpiling Tips from AFC's Serious Stockpilers: How do you store your stockpile? Need some great tips on how to organize all of those great coupon finds that you just couldn't pass up? Here's some tips from AFC's Serious Stockpilers! Rubbermaid totes and containers are great for storage. Before buying, make sure you measure the space that you have, and take the measuring tape to the store with you. Containers come in all shapes and sizes, and you can usually find one that fits almost perfectly. This saves wasted space! Always rotate your stockpile. Put the oldest dates in front, and newest dates in back. This will help you use the items that are expiring sooner first. If items are for your personal use, consider opening packages and storing like items together to save space. This can save space when storing items such as Ziploc bags, razors, and dishwasher tablets. Did you know that many laundry detergents, fabric softeners, and cleaners are not filled to the top of their containers? Often there is an inch or two of empty space. You can reduce how much you need to store by topping off each bottle. FSOT Tips: Have you noticed that the FSOT subforums are back? You can again list your coupons for trade in their respective categories. Here are some more tips to make your trading experiences better and to help us keep thing organized: Please help us keep things up-to-date! When your coupons have been traded or you have found the coupons that you posted in search of, click on the "Gone" button at the top of your thread. This will automatically move your thread to the FSOT Graveyard. There's no need to change the title of your thread. Keep in mind that our FSOT Rules prohibit the trading of receipts, complete deals or rainchecks. You can find the complete FSOT Rules here. It is very important that you leave trader feedback for all trades. The feedback system is an excellent way to let others know about your trading experiences. It also helps alert the AFC team if a pattern of bad trades is emerging, so that we can take quick action. Member Spotlight Congratulations to olivas.sandra, the winner of our first Awesome AFC'er Award! Sandra is a Shopping List Assistant for CVS, Albertsons Western, Farm Fresh, and Rainbow Foods. She writes for the AFC blog, and she was recently featured on a CBS segment regarding coupon issues at Target. Here's what Sandra has to say about AFC: 1. Tell us a little about yourself! How long have you been a member of AFC? Who do you shop for? I am the wife of David, and we have been married for 18 years. I have 3 children: Micheal 25, Patty 24, and Joshua 21. I also have 3 grandkids: Amyia, LaReyna, and Melianie. I have only been a member of AFC since June. I shop for alot of people, including my husband, father in law, the kids and the grandkids! 2. What is you favorite feature of AFC? I think my favorite feature of AFC is the people. There is always someone willing to help you..even if it is 3:00 am. I also love the shopping lists. 3. How has AFC changed your shopping habits? I think the main thing I have changed is were I shop. I have couponed for 20 years and never thought about shopping Target or Walmart. 4. What is you favorite store to shop? What stores are the most coupon friendly? What stores have the best sales/prices? My favorite store to shop right now is Rite-Aid. The one I shop at is so coupon friendly and is always willing to work with me if they are out of stock. The stores I shop that are the most coupon friendly are Rite-aid, CVS, and Ralphs. I am the raincheck queen in these stores! The store that has the best sales/prices for me right now is Rite-Aid. There is alot on clearance as far as food goes, and you can use coupons on the clearance. 5. What is your favorite thing to stockpile and why? My favorite thing to stockpile is Laundry Soap. When my husband and I first got married, we did not have alot of money, and I never seemed to have enough laundry soap. I can say I probably have enough laundry soap to last me 3 years now! 6. How do you get coupons and how do you keep them organized? I buy maybe 5 papers a week. Then I get 10 of a local Hispanic paper delivered to me for free. I also trade for extra coupons or sometimes I will buy them. I keep my inserts in plastic sleeves with the date on a sticky note. I learned a long time ago that it is way too much work to cut every coupon. And with the Coupon Database here on AFC it is just easier to find the ones I need for my sales. I use a couponizer to put my clipped coupons that I take to the store with me. The one thing I do do every week is cut out the high value qs that I know I will use and put them right into my couponizer. 7. What advice do you have for a new couponer? The best advice I can give to a new couponer is ask questions, and dont worry you will get there. We all started with just a couple bottles of taco sauce. Your stockpile will grow and grow. Before you know it, you are looking for a place to set up shop! And one more quick thing...we all have messed up! Forgot a coupon, added the total up wrong and just plain messed up the deal. That is okay...just keep going, and you will get it. 8. What advice do you have someone new to AFC? Make friends. Read, Read, Read. But most of all have fun! There is alot to learn here. Like I said, I have been couponing for 20 years, and I still learn stuff here everyday.
