| Member Spotlight Congratulations to twinmommma, the winner of our Awesome AFC'er Award for November! Twinmommma is a Shopping List Assistant for CVS, Jewel-Osco, and Meijer. She contributes to the AFC Blog, and she is a member of AFC's Welcome Wagon. Here's what twinmommma has to say about AFC: 1. Tell us a little about yourself! How long have you been a member of AFC? Who do you shop for? My name is Nicole and I am the mom of twin 2 year old girls. I joined AFC in May of 2009. Before I had my girls we were a 2 person, 2 income family and after, a 4 person, 1 income family. I joined in hopes that I could save my family money on groceries and diapers. 2. What is you favorite feature of AFC? I’m a huge fan of the Shopping Lists and the Coupon Database. Having the sales with coupon match-ups laid out each week for each store is a total time-saver. 3. How has AFC changed your shopping habits? I was actually thinking about this the other day, as I stacked 20 boxes of Eggos into my cart. Like most people, I used to make a list of what we had run out of during the week, find any coupons that matched my list, and then go grocery shopping. Now, I am only making a list of what is free or cheap that week at a few stores and getting those items. The only part of the list that hasn’t changed much, is fresh produce and milk; however, I only buy the items that are on sale that week. 4. What is you favorite store to shop? What stores are the most coupon friendly? What stores have the best sales/prices? I shop mainly at 4 stores, Jewel-Osco, Meijer, CVS, and Walgreens. Walgreens is extremely coupon friendly and usually more than happy to do multiple transactions. Jewel has the best coupon policy and is extremely accommodating to couponers. 5. What is your favorite thing to stockpile and why? The things I end up stockpiling most are cereal, body wash, and toothpaste. These are things I can usually get free or almost free and are great to give away to family and friends. 6. How do you get coupons and how do you keep them organized? Many times I purchase them from a coupon clipper. As the preview ads are posted, I make a list of coupons I will need for that sale, then I order them on Saturday night, when the newest Sunday coupons are posted. I do trade a great deal though on AFC as well. 7. What advice do you have for a new couponer? Make sure you know the stores’ coupon policies and take advantage of the simple deals first. Once you get comfortable, you will get more confident to do deals that are more complex. This is when knowing the coupon policies may come into play, i.e. who takes B1G1 coupons on B1G1 sales, etc. 8. What advice do you have someone new to AFC? First, ask questions, it will save you time and money in the long run. AFC has extremely friendly and helpful members that are more than willing to assist you with problems or deals.
