What's on Sale this Month?
By: sar1

Hooray for Spring! Get ready for Spring Cleaning promotions to hit the sales ads and make room in your stockpile area for Lysol cleaners, Swiffer products, and cleaning sponges. In addition, paper products such as paper plates, paper towels and napkins should be high on your list of stockpile items because they don’t expire and you can go through many of them in just one spring barbecue. March is also Frozen Foods month so look for promotions similar to the recent Target Frozen Foods gift card deal to pop up elsewhere and make room in your freezer for more TGI Fridays, Healthy Choice, frozen pizza, and ice cream. Easter brings sales on eggs, of course, but also ham and Easter candy. Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS will surely all have candy deals to help fill your little one’s basket.
Happy Couponing,
The AFC Administrators

Member Spotlight
Congratulations to scamelo, the winner of our Awesome AFC'er Award for March! Here's what she has to say about AFC:

1. Tell us a little about yourself! How long have you been a member of AFC?
I have been a member since August of 2007. I am originally from Argentina and came here when I was 4. I am currently a SAHM with 3 kids and one hubby. I went to college for Biology and ran a website for 7 years until they retired the product.

2. What is you favorite feature of AFC?
I love the search feature and the new posts feature and that you can block what stores that you don't have in your area to save time viewing new posts.

3. How has AFC changed your shopping habits?
When my hubby got laid off a few years ago, I knew we had to save money. AFC members are great and post everything from the obvious to hidden deals. I save so much money with this site and sometimes make money from the deals.

4. What is you favorite store to shop? What stores are the most coupon friendly? What stores have the best sales/prices?
Currently its Rite Aid and Shoprite. For a while it was Target. I change when deals change and right now Rite Aid is top dog. My Shoprite is not coupon friendly at all, and I sometimes travel during good weeks to a further Shoprite that is very coupon friendly.

5. What is your favorite thing to stockpile and why?
Not sure if its my favorite, but I have to stockpile shampoo for my two daughters who seem to eat it nightly.

6. How do you get coupons and how do you keep them organized?
I tend to print more internet coupons than anything else. On good insert weeks I do buy extras of the paper using my RA UP rewards, but I seem to hunt down better coupons online many times. I am not good at organizing at all. Currently I am using envelopes. I did briefly try a binder, but for me it was a lot of work, and I tend to print and run to the store so nothing stayed in the binder very long.

7. What advice do you have for a new couponer?
Start small, with just a store or two. It can be overwhelming if you are trying to do deals at 6 stores every week. Also remember that just because you get $1/2 coupon in an insert, another region might get .75/1 and you can trade coupons or order them to get better deals.

8. What advice do you have someone new to AFC?
Check the store forum that you shop at most frequently for new posts. Don't be afraid to ask questions as everyone here is so nice, unlike some other forums. Do not try to do every deal someone posts. Remember even if its the same store you shop at, prices and deals may not be the same in your area, so test out a few things first before jumping in. Most importantly try to have fun!!
