June Newsletter For AFullCup.com Members!
Hi AFC'ers! Welcome to June. The lazy days of summer are almost here. While you're trying to entertain the kids, preparing for a family vacation, or just getting outdoors to enjoy this warm weather, you can find great deals on all your summer essentials at AFC! Come check out your favorite store forums for the best deals today. See you on the boards! What's on Sale this Month? June is National Dairy Month, so expect to find sales on milk, cheese, cream cheese, and yogurt. It's likely to be a good time to stock up on ice cream too, as the weather gets hotter! With the summer season upon us, you'll find an abundance of fresh produce hitting the store shelves. Great prices on yummy fruits and vegetables, such as peaches, blueberries, blackberries, watermelon, tomatoes, and cherries, will help you fill your refrigerator this month for snacks, salads, and my favorite, pies and cobblers!! Take advantage of these awesome buys on fresh produce while you can. As the month comes to a close, look for sales on cook-out staples for upcoming Fourth of July celebrations. Typically, this is a great time of year to stock up on hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, potato chips, paper plates, charcoal, and condiments, such as ketchup, salad dressing, and barbecue sauce. If you have some room in your freezer or pantry, grab some extras for all of the outdoor fun and picnics that warmer weather brings.

Member Spotlight Congratulations to nomadicpixie, the winner of our Awesome AFC'er Award for June! Here's what she has to say about AFC: 1. Tell us a little about yourself! How long have you been a member of AFC? I am a stay at home of four very energetic kids and an Army wife. We currently live in the Mojave Desert in California, but we move on a regular basis. When I’m not couponing I like to read and to be outdoors hiking, camping, cycling, and geocaching. I have been a member of AFC since June 8, 2009. I had just discovered the world of couponing and a lady mentioned AFC on a blog so I came over to check it out. I’ve been hooked on AFC ever since!! 2. What is you favorite feature of AFC? There are so many areas of AFC I love. I can get everything I need here on AFC. But I’d have to say my absolute favorite is the Coupon Trains. It is a wonderful way to get more coupons you need and give unneeded coupons a new home. But the best part about the trains is the friendships they allow you to make. We are together week after week and you build some amazing friendships through the trains. 3. How has AFC changed your shopping habits? My shopping habits took a complete 180 with the discovery of AFC and couponing. I used to go to the store, buy what I needed, and only use coupons if they were hanging in front of the product. Now I stockpile, study the ads, and only buy things at rock bottom prices. I never buy things on a whim, and if a coupon exists for an item I will find it. I cut my grocery bill from $1000 a month to under $300, and that’s for six people and a very large dog. 4. What is you favorite store to shop? What stores are the most coupon friendly? What stores have the best sales/prices? Since I live in the middle of nowhere my stores are very limited. I do the majority of my shopping at the Military Commissary. It is the most convenient but also has the best prices and is very coupon friendly. They don’t bat an eye when I hand them 100 coupons for a transaction. For all my HBA items I shop at Rite Aid. I only have one and its 35 miles away but their deals are amazing and the store is very coupon friendly, so it’s worth it. I also shop Food4Less and Stater Bros for their loss leaders, but not much else. They are okay about coupons but not great. I also go to Walmart, but only when I have to. That is all the stores I have near me, so I work with what I have. 5. What is your favorite thing to stockpile and why? The items I like to stockpile most are laundry soap, crackers, and drinks. The laundry soap because it is so expensive that I love jumping on a good deal and getting a bunch – having a full house I need great deals on laundry soap! I love to stockpile crackers and drinks because those are the items we go through the fastest in our house. We drink a lot of water, powerades, juice boxes, and soda, so I am always scoping out good deals on those. The same thing with the crackers – we go through so many boxes of crackers that I love when I can find a good deal and stock up. I bought 100 boxes of crackers in December and they were gone by March! Good thing I found a good deal again before they ran out. 6. How do you get coupons and how do you keep them organized? I get my coupons from everywhere. I order inserts since no newspapers deliver here. I also trade or use clipping services for individual coupons I need lots of. I also use a lot of printables and am lucky to have access to 5 computers to print from. Most of my non-insert coupons and multiples of coupons come from the trains I ride. The train members send wonderful coupons and are great about sending what I need. I have a file box for the inserts and photo box for the loose coupons. When I get my inserts I cut out the coupons I know I will use and then file the inserts away in case I need the other coupons later. The loose coupons are sorted by category in the photo box. I also have an envelope-like coupon holder I put the coupons in when I head to the store. 7. What advice do you have for a new couponer? The biggest piece of advice I think a new couponer needs is to take it slow and have patience! You need to take your time and learn one store at a time. If you try to learn multiple stores at once, and at the same time trying to learn the lingo you will get very overwhelmed. If you take it slow you will adjust more easily and will be more likely to stick around. Couponing is a lifestyle and you need time to get comfortable. So many expect to jump in and save 95% the first week, but this is not realistic. If you have too high of expectations you will get frustrated and quit. Take the time to learn and be proud of each step you take! 8. What advice do you have someone new to AFC? Read, read, and read!!! There is so much information around AFC and it is worth it to read as much as you can. Explore AFC and all the areas that there are. I am discovering new things at AFC every day. Keep reading, keep clicking and checking out new areas. You’ll be amazed how much information is in there!
