    What's on Sale this Month?
    By: sar1

Hello, November! The season of yummy, warm comfort food is here. My crockpot is going to take its place on the counter for the next few months and remind me why I own this heavy, space-stealing appliance. Besides the Reynold’s Slow Cooker Liner coupons we’ll likely see again this year, look for sales and coupons on broth, stock, and canned cooking soups as the starting point for some fantastic one-pot meals that can be loaded with fresh or frozen vegetables. Or take the much easier route and stock up on canned soups from Progresso and Campbell’s. With dinner taken care of, maybe you can try out some new baking recipes. This is the time to really focus on the sales and coupons throughout the baking aisle: Jell-o, marshmallows, chocolate chips, condensed milk, baking mixes, shortening, baking nuts, parchment paper. And of course, the big holiday devoted to food worship – Thanksgiving! All of the staples will be on sale, likely with matching coupons. Stuffing mixes, gravy, canned vegetables, sweet potatoes, rolls, aluminum foil and disposable foil pans. Look for promotions on turkeys such as “buy $XX worth of groceries and get a free turkey”. This will be the best way to save money on the centerpiece of your feast. Have a Happy and Delicious Thanksgiving!

Couponing Is More Fun With Friends!

Congratulations to missdanalu, the winner of our Awesome AFC'er award for November. Here's what she had to say about AFC:

    1. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Dana, I'm married and have 3 children - a 6 year old son and a 4 year old daughter and 5 month old daughter. I work full time outside of the home. I love to read, watch movies and shop (of course). I started couponing in November 2010 and started to stockpile in April 2011 when my husband told me about A Full Cup!

    2. What is your favorite feature of AFC and why?
I love the For Sale or Trade (FSOT) forums - no matter what kind of coupon it is someone on AFC is bound to have it! I have found AFC members to be very prompt and generous traders and it's great to get the coupons you need from people you can trust.

    3. How do you get coupons and how do you keep them organized?
I receive 1 Sunday delivery subscription weekly. If I need more coupons I turn to my co-workers (fellow coupon junkies!) and if that fails I hop on over to the FSOT forum. Occasionally I purchase coupons from clipping services or ebay.

When I receive my papers I clip the coupons I know I plan to use for upcoming sales or for my regular grocery shopping trips and keep them in a small accordian file. I file the whole insert away in a desk and then pull it as needed to clip additional coupons for sales that come up.

    4. Tell us about you favorite store to shop and/or your favorite item to stockpile.
I love to shop CVS. I go there every Saturday night to shop and find their coupon policy to be very straightforward and easy to follow. I do my regular bi-weekly grocery shopping for my family at Walmart. I like price matching all our other local stores and find that my local Walmart is really great and familiar with their company's policies.

My favorite stockpile item is toilet paper and paper towels. We never run out!

    5. What advice do you have for someone new to couponing? What tips can you share for someone new to AFC?
For someone new to couponing I would recommend starting with one store and learning it and then slowly adding additional stores to your routine. Every store has different policies and if you try to learn several at the beginning (especially drug stores!) it can become very confusing. It's also so tempting in the beginning to chase every deal but it really is true that sales cycle and a new deal will come along in a few months so it's okay to miss a deal every now and then!

For someone new to AFC I would advise to just jump right in! Everyone is very friendly and more than willing to answer questions. So don't be shy or worry that you're not asking the right questions - we were all beginners at one time and everyone has to start somewhere. Pick your local store and start posting!
