December Newsletter For AFullCup.com Members!
Happy December, AFC'ers! With the holiday season in full swing, retailers are rolling out awesome in-store and online sales to get your holiday dollars! Come on over to your favorite store forums today to see how much you can save this season. From our family to yours, we wish you much peace, love, and joy during this wonderful time of year!
What's on Sale this Month? As you prepare for the upcoming holidays and many festive get-togethers, be sure to stock up on all of your entertaining essentials! During the month of December, you'll find great sales on items needed for holiday gatherings, including deli platters, turkey, ham, sour cream dips, gravy mixes, crackers, soups, and broths. Baking items such as flour, sugar, butter, cake mixes, pie crusts, marshmallows, and whipped toppings are also offered at low prices this time of year. Go ahead and get all of those needed ingredients for your homemade holiday gifts and cookie exchanges, but you may want to also buy extra of these baking products which seldom go on sale and typically have a long shelf life. The produce aisles will be filled with a great selection of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables like pears, grapefruits, winter squash, yams, and potatoes. And don't forget to look for clearance finds! In early December, stores will be marking down Thanksgiving themed paper goods and decor, while late December will feature a ton of after Christmas bargains, including items that are often overlooked, like hand soap, Ziploc bags, paper towels, and other items in holiday packaging. |

Tips for Members Target offers many store coupons on their website and through home mailings, which can be combined with manufacturer's coupons for awesome deals. Want to know more about which coupons are available currently? Looking for ideas on matching coupons to Target sales for the best deal? We have created a new Target subforum just for discussing Target coupons! You can find the new subforum here. Please post your Target coupon finds, as well as scenarios for using Target coupons in the new subforum. If you are interested in trading for Target coupons, those threads should continue to be posted in the Store Coupons FSOT forum. Thanks for helping us keep the Target forum organized!
We've recently made some changes to our Database Dynamo contest. Beginning in December, we will announce the top four members who entered the most coupons to the database during the previous month. Those members will receive the "Database Dynamo" bling for an entire month, as well as an envelope of coupons from the AFC team. You can learn more about the changes and ask any questions here. Thanks to everyone who helps us keep the database current! We appreciate the time it takes!
As a reminder, if you are in need of specific coupons or if you have extra coupons to trade, please post those threads in the appropriate FSOT Subforum. We ask that you do not post what you have or need in the store forums or in deal threads. Although the coupons may relate to the deal being discussed, this makes it difficult for others to follow the flow of discussion. Please help us keep the deal threads on-topic by posting your extra coupons or the coupons you're in search of in the FSOT Subforums only. Thanks for your cooperation!
Hot Deals and Contests Do you like to share deals for your favorite store? Are you interested in helping out fellow members by keeping a forum organized and up-to-date? Would you like access to exclusive monthly contests? If these things interest you, you may be a great Forum Leader. AFC is always looking for volunteers to serve as Forum Leaders in each store forum. FLs help out by posting a weekly good deal or match-up thread, moving or merging threads as needed, answering member questions, and sticking/unsticking information. To see which stores are in need of a Forum Leader and to learn more, check out this thread. We'd love to you join our team!

Congratulations to Z and G's Mom, the winner of our Awesome AFC'er award for December. Here's what she had to say about AFC:
1. Tell us a little about yourself. My name is Jessie and I am married with 2 boys, ages 3 and 5. I taught music for 4 years and figured out I really didn't like teaching. So I went back to school and received a Masters degree and now work for a nonprofit promoting the aviation heritage of Dayton, Ohio. My couponing helps our family in many ways but most importantly: (1) Going on vacations, which we REALLY love to do! (2) Affording private school tuition for our boys.
2. What is your favorite feature of AFC and why? While I thoroughly enjoy all of the Great Deal Alerts, amazingly helpful people and the always-hopping Kroger forum (my most frequented store), my favorite feature of AFC is the friendships you form with people who, most likely, you will never meet in person. While couponing might have brought us together, the true concern and care of others here is REALLY awesome!
3. How do you get coupons and how do you keep them organized? I get coupons from friends and family in addition to the one paper I subscribe to each week. I typically end up with anywhere from 10-20 copies of inserts just from asking people for theirs! I organize the coupons I know I will personally use in my zippered binder. The coupons I won't personally use but will trade or use for trains go into a converted shoe box with category dividers that mimic the ones in my binder. ALL of my expireds go to a military family I met here on AFC that is stationed in Belgium
4. Tell us about you favorite store to shop and/or your favorite item to stockpile. My favorite store is Kroger, even still now with the limitations they have started placing on coupon usage. I also shop Aldi's (for items I just can't find cheaper anywhere else) and occasionally Meijer and WalMart. I don't have a favorite stockpile item - I love them ALL! I really enjoy being able to make just about any meal my family requests without having to make a grocery run to the store!
5. What advice do you have for someone new to couponing? What tips can you share for someone new to AFC? START SLOWLY!! Do not try to create a massive stockpile overnight and don't try to save 100% on every shopping trip! Couponing is hard work and takes time and dedication BUT even if you work multiple jobs and have multiple kids, it can be done! And most of all?? SMILE and be friendly to your store staff. Kill 'em with kindness! It goes a long way!
